SW Ontario
What is your definition of "thin" topsoil? Up here in ontario we think a foot of topsoil is just gold! Back to the planter, I ran two dawn curvetines and loved them on heavy ground, but once you hit a farm of light sand they'll rip the seed right out of the ground, hence the one rubber wheel. It's basically just poor man's depth control. We could run two with depth bands, but my experiments this spring showed that running two spike wheels didn't do enough good to justify buying the whole set.
