Kittitas Co. Wa. State

My Grandma was a 'homemaker' and was very good at what she did.  Made quilts, needle craft of several types, did a lot of canning with glass quart jars, made jams and jellies, made bread from scratch, had a garden every year etc.  As a little kid in the 50's  I remember her sitting for hours cutting up old worn out cloth, didn't matter what it was she would cut up all the needed squares and start sewing.

She never had much extra money (none) but always kept everything including the house neat as a pin, always had plenty of food in the house, clothes were often made at home,, but she lived better than 70% of the people today.

She was not prideful, nor boasted on what she did, and would put "homemakers" today to shame.

Too bad America lost that concept of self-reliance.   American's would not be where they are if they that bothered to learn that basic concept.
