Is your VHF radio in the 150 to 160 MHz range? If so, you might be knocking GPS off the air with the tenth harmonic of your transmit frequency. if yout transmitter is within 2 MHz of 157.5 MHz the tenth harmmonig is 1575 +/- 20 MHz. This tenth harmonic is much stronger than the GPS satellite signals which are very weak and easily blocked. If you want to check if your transmitter is interfering with GPS reception on the EZ-Guide 500, select Advanced User Mode, then Status, then Satellite status. The L1 SNRs are in the range of 35 to 45+. Observe the SNR when you press your transmitter push to talk. If the SNR for the SVs drop by more than one or two dB, then it is the Transmitter frequency that is the problem. You will either have to change the transmitter frequency or only use the transmitter when you do not need GPS.

The VHF radios in this band were generally built before GPS was widely used and the manufacturer has an almost impossible task in preventing a problem with GPs receivers in the vicinity if the transmit frequency is within 3 or three MHz of 157.5 MHz.
