| We were getting charged either $14 or $16 an acre two years ago. The guy we had doing it had so much to do and the weather wasn't cooperating last year (which turned in to this spring) we decided to buy our own rig to make sure it got done. Now that we have one, and I know what all is involved, I don't think I would do it for someone else for less than $20 if I was trying to put food on the table with that job. If I was doing it to just help a friend out, I wouldn't do it for less than $16. This is assuming that you are providing the tractor and strip till rig and one person to haul tanks. If another tank hauler is needed they would need to provide the tank hauler or pay more. I think if I were sure I could get a good job done each year, I would go with paying someone $20 an acre rather than owning a rig. | |
