SE Nebraska
From the testing we have done, the ammonium component is lost before the crop is planted, and the remaining N is not available. If you are applying directly in front of the planter........maybe. But what we have found is in a manure only scenario, the corn/wheat is N deficient until either side dressed or top dressed, even with 200+ units of manure N put on. We have found with preplant commercial N put on, the manure acres have a better N test (tissue test) later in the season.

We have found that unniversity trials (where one of the test farms was a customer) routinely overapply manure to the tune of 300+ units of N to replicate commercial N results. Organic research is often skewed to match a political view rather than agronomic reality. Been that way since I was in college. If it is an organic trial done at a university, I trust it as much as I do a $4 hooker.
