I went from FS 30.5 R2's to 800 R1W bibs. Didn't have any really BAD mud but what I did encounter the radials stayed on top and went right on through. In really bad conditions the R-2's will go farther. As for the ride, it's good. I didn't realize how rough something was until the back wheels hit it! If I was a rice farmer I'd have 35.5 R-2's but for row crop I think I did the right thing.
