Make sure it is a head gasket. Some of the truck manufactures also use a air operated heater valve in the bunk (if it has one). when these go bad it allows the air in the cooling system resulting in coolant loss. Also if the head gasket is blown make sure you mechanic checks the liner heights with the head off. I have seen blocks become cavitated allowing the liner to drop some which causes the head gasket to blow.
