One thing I can't understand is the way you talk it sounds like it would affect alfalfa. That makes no sense because the bobolink doesn't nest in alfalfa, it nests in tall grass. Alfalfa shouldn't be affected.
Bob o links like alfalfa very much. We have several smaller hay fields where we delay cutting to benefit the wild life. We rotate them around each year, the fields reseed themselves and we get good tonnage of low quality forage from them. I think some sort of incentive program would be effective. |
