yeah , the idea works good . I do it myself with a Bushnell 1500 . You won't be able to quite make it clear across a section though , but a half mile is possible .

The guys with the Leicas do brag on them , so they must be pretty good . Forget the Leupolds , nobody has much good to say about them .

I played with a Nikon Monarch 1200 at a dealers one time , I was getting readings off light poles at over 900 yards , flat ground out to 6-700 .

son-in-law has a Monarch 800 , he has ranged coyotes out to near 600 . I would say the Nikons are a good bet if you don't want to spend quite as much as a Leica .


Best of all are supposedly the Swavorskis , but they are bigger $$$ yet .
