I've used JBWeld to repair diesel leaks before.  I sanded the area, cleaned it with (I think) soapy water then alcohol, and let it set overnight.  It wasn't steel but something like cast aluminum on a flange going into an injector pump.  That was about 17 years ago and it still hasn't let go.  JBWeld is definitely diesel proof!
