EC IA
My dad pulled a 32' soil finisher home from N. Dakota to EC Iowa with my 1 ton pickup, along with about 1500# of spare shanks and sweeps in the back. It was a long trip, but he made it. I recommended to him to take another complete set of truck tires mounted on wheels for the finisher, and switch them out before he takes off. The truck tires are rated for the higher speeds compared to the implement tires. It worked well.

12' wide isn't bad. If you can get it on a trailer, I would do that. Check with DOT to know what you need for necessary signs/lights. And playing "stupid" doesn't work with them. They don't care that you didn't know the laws, you should have informed yourself before you made the trip. I hauled a 12 row planter home on our 30' flatbed. It was 15' wide, but it was a lot easier doing it that way than dragging it home. I was able to do 60mph pretty much the whole way home.... till the turbo blew, but we still made it home.
