Patch it with "JB Weld" it is a plyable compound, when you mix the 2 tubes of stuff together it forms a putty that you can put over your gash, and it hardens overnight into a permanent weld. I've used it on snowmobile heat exchangers when a track stud has punctured it and is leaking on the trail.
