Just bought an extremely low mile, ugly semi tractor for $1408 a couple weeks ago. I don't think you can save a lot on power units.
Tare weight is tare weight regardless of the gross you are allowed. If you are 10k lbs heavy on your tare, that's still 10k you can't haul, regardless if you can haul 50k or 80k.
