Ohio | I am struggling with the same thing. Probably 40-50 bushels on the ground. My question to other agronomists is not what the nutrient value of the beans on the ground is, but what kind of availability there will be next year. To add insult to injury there is now a nice mat of small beans growing where they fell. Does this change anything? I even called out to a friend who is in Kansas where they deal with hail all the time and he didn't have any insight. As of now I grid sampled all of the hailed acres and will try to fertilize accordingly. I dont want to start an argument about the proper way to sample but this was the quickest and easiest for these fields. I just got the results back and our fertility looks pretty good. As of tonight I am considering backing off about 40% on the recommended rates. As always this is subject to change as I learn more about this situation. | |
