That photo reminds me of some things that Al Bruggeman and is family were doing in Osceola County Iowa a number of years ago. I don't know if they are still doing it or not.
Another possibility is the Stadmueller Family of Eastern Iowa. But they were using 6 row wide equipment when they first did this type of stuff back in the 1980's.
Looking at the photo it looks more like S. MN, or Northern Iowa than Eastern Iowa.
