I don'think you are on the wrong track . I have seen 1 $ leave pretty fast . Some world glitch and we will lose 10 -20$fast. The bad thing with the options is they are expensive maybe buy a put and sell a call would give some upside. Or buy the put with the intention at a later date to sell a call depending on the market movement may get a floor quite reasonable.
