Colby, Kansas | I think you're really talking two different deals here. The sampling and recs part is very doable, but will require a large investment of time and education on your part to generate meaingful recommendations and learn not only the rec side of it but learning the type of software you will use also takes a significant investment of time and money.
Maybe I misunderstood what your calling a soil lab, but starting an actual lab would be serious $$$$, were easily talking hundereds of thousands to $1mil+ in order to have enough capacity to make any money. Its a low-margin high volume business, just look at how similar the pricing is among companies, it dosent vary a lot. Running a lab also requires someone with a fair bit of schooling, especially on the chemistry/soil chemistry side of things.
