Aberdeen MS | Flyguy,
You should go up sometime and take a look from top down. Looks a bit different than from the road.
First of Aug, I drove down to Heron Lake, crop looked good pretty much all the way down. I drove out to Mitchell SD and back on the 14th. Again... pretty impressive looking crop from the road. Last Friday I went from New Ulm MN to Rochester to Sioux Falls and back to New Ulm 2,000 feet up.
The view from the top didn't show as an impressive of a crop as it did from the road. Very few corn fields had "premium color" throughout the entire field. Some will be a bit disappointed when the combine rolls.
I haven't been north this year at all. But my guess would be if MN sets a new record, the bulk of the record will from those fields north of me in the central area that generally burn up around early August.
Don't get me wrong, it will be a very good corn crop in MN, just not the uber crop some from the other states are trying to project IMO. | |
