we've grown the charles winter barley in southern idaho for two years now. the first year it overwintered without a problem and we harvested 160 bu/ac. this year winterkill and a late spring frost hit it hard -- i was glad to get 140 bu/ac out of it. a barley breeder i know believes the endeavor variety is the superior of the two.
