I am not anti-eBay/MobileHID/etc. kits. When does concern me is when I see people replacing multiple small halogen lights on tractors with 30 year old wiring with HID lights that have differing electrical requirements.

So you're concerned about switching to a HID bulb that once lit draws less amps than the factory halogens???

I realize that they draw more amps for a second or two at start up but isn't that when the fuse should blow if the wiring is overloaded?

Compared to the old method of getting more light (splicing into the wiring and adding more halogens) I'd say the HID's are far better for the electrical system on old tractors.
