It can be done, but not your plan. The basic start would
be to run it as a single phase without a starting winding
and rope start the unit. Once turning single phase
will run the motor. To do a full test you have to do
it twice. with other wire. Once unit is running it becomes a poor
rotary converter and the third wire will have yourthird phase.
As for wild leg, We use that on the farm, but they don't
like it and want my the change. The big advantage on
the wild leg system that you get 240 and 110 volts
where as the now standard systems gives you 208 and
110 or just 240, 480, 600 without any 110.
