Subject: NH 254 rake

Ripley, Ontario Canada
I am demoing a NH 254 rake, and of course it doesn't come with a manual, and from a non NH dealer. It is set up to rake now, and was doing a pretty good job, but can it be set to release sooner, it was throwing some of the straw back out because it maybe didn't release soon enough, (the foot of stubble likely doesn't help either). Also there appears to be 3 settings for the rotor arms, raking (where the cam engages) a middle position where maybe the cam engages and then you can move the arms right up so they are out of the cam, but the tab on the arm engages the slot in the rotor frame, but you have to go past the 2 notches underneath, is this right, I assume this position is for tedding?

Thanks
