Subject: RE: Got wheat seed?

NW Tennessee
That's a good price compared to here. I got prices from three different suppliers and all quoted within a few cents of $15.00 for 50#,   most varieties at $14.95. A local farmer that grows quite a bit of wheat, for this area anyway, put all his wheat in his bins when he harvested it this past June. Thought about buying some from him as I have in the past but I understand he is sold out. My main problem with wheat is this: it's nothing in this area for full season beans to yield 10 bpa more than wheat beans. Not always, but not unusual. And sometimes the difference is greater than that. At $10.00 bu, that's $100 less income from beans and pretty much knocks out any profit from the wheat. Not planting beans back isn't an option "here" on crop share rented ground. Basis is so wide here, that you can't even book wheat for $6.00 right now, anyway.
