Central To Everything and Close to Nothing | I have a hydraulic probe mounted in my truck and after sampling like this I will never go back to sampling on the quad. The only downside is that you need to cut a hole in the floor and take out the front passenger seat. The upside is that you can cover a lot of acres in a day and not be whipped by being out on a cold fall day! I have even sampled well into the winter as getting through frost is not a problem in most soils. However sampling with snow on the ground can be a challenge as everything gets wet (and muddy) when snow hits a warm cab.
I purchased my probe from AgVise : http://www.agvise.com/equipment/systeminstalled.php
The only thing I would do different next time is install an engine mounted hydraulic pump as the 12V pump takes some warming up on those cold mornings. |
