Massachusetts | I had a long telephone conversation with Bob Perry at the soil lab this last winter, and we spoke about the Bray 1 vs Bray 2. It was some time ago, but this is what I recall:
He feels that the Bray 2 gives a reading of what will be plant available for the next growing season, whereas the Bray 1 gives what is available that moment. That is why he prefers the Bray 2.
So, either I have plenty of P in my soil, but it is being blocked somehow, or maybe I don't have enough P and should be applying some. Or maybe my tissue test is no good, that's possible too, I suppose.
I should say that I have used three soil labs, UMASS, Spectrum Analytic, and my current one, Perry Ag Labs, and one of the few things they seem to agree on is the high P.
