Leesburg, Ohio
Just don't forget to put it more than 3 feet off the pavement! One of my pet peeves is our "rural neighbors" who don't want to spend a dime on some gravel for the berm so the mailman can reach the box, so they set the box right at the edge of the pavement where we cant' get by it with farm equipment without taking the whole road.

And then there's the folks who set their garbage cans out in the road....and the trash men who leave them there...

We have a 6" treated post for our 50 year old Federally approved heavy duty mailbox. Mailman likes it, PM hasn't complained yet. Heavy enough that it can be fixed with a hydraulic jack if someone tries to bash it. Got shot four times with a .45 cal a while back...pounded out the holes and re-painted...still works and looks good.
