Holly Island, AR | yeah, i bet that was just an experimental i saw then, that's kinda confusing. The guy that has the plot said it looks good compared to the others. 4554 was a big variety here, but in other parts of the delta it wasn't so big, for some reason it did well in northeast arkansas. 3 years ago, it was about 70 percent of arkansas cotton. 4288 is replacing it, and from the way it looks now, it looks better, but that means nothing right now till it's picked. Yeah 5599 was all about the timing of defoliation, if you hit it early, the mics would be lower, it was bad to high mic here. But that variety was the first 1500 pound i ever picked. also some of the worst i ever picked...lol. Consistency is the most imporant factor in a good variety. | |
