West Central IL | rab1964 is correct in my opinion, the kernals are very small this year in the corn that I have looked at. We have had plenty of rain, I think that the incredibly warm nights that we had in July is the main culprit. The big yields that we have had here the past several years have had very deep kernals with a slow grain fill. This year the grain fill has been rapid, I think that even the "exceptional" looking areas will be slightly disappointed when the combines roll. Even if the TW is good, the kernals are small. | |
