North Central Illinois
I've been sold 50% in cash and hedge to arrive for some time and I am still very happy with those sales. I also have some coverage with options. Not yet sure how that is going to play out but I am comfortable. In talking to local grain buyers a month ago or more they claimed to have very little on the books for 2010. They said there were too many guys that were sitting on 2009 grain and those guys were so worried about their 2009 stuff that they hadn't even considered pricing 2010. I find this hard to believe but that is what they told me. Obviously I think this has probably changed a lot in the last month or so. I assume there was a lot of 2009 crop unloaded during the rally after the last report. Granted basis took a hit but I'll still bet guys unloaded a bunch of old crop. Whether they priced any new crop is a different story. We'll see.
