Subject: question about watering corn

north west arkansas
It is getting really dry again and i have some corn close to black layer and im wondering whether to give it a little more water. The corn borers are working on it pretty good and it looks like where they are the corn is going to mature prematurely so im wondering if its best not to water it and just let it dry down. The corn is planted flat and i would just be flooding it with the water running down the slopes.
