Subject: What are these moths? (northern IL)

N. IL
These moths have been getting more numerous for the past week and are now as thick as Corn Borer moths used to be 10 years ago.

What are they? I have talked to several agronomists that aren't sure. About half the size of an ECB moth with few markings on the wings, a little bit of striping parrallel to the wing, but very faint.

They are the only insect/moth we have had all summer and hope we never discover what they will turn into in the field. I have talked to several neighbors who are alarmed at the density of these things between 9-10 pm. The windshield and grill/bumpers are just filthy.
