If you don't mind me asking where are you going from/to? I am looking at possibly having a planter hauled from western Iowa to just west of Lincoln. It too is pretty wide at 15' 8". Possibly looking for somebody wanting a load on a back haul.
As far as width regulations... not sure probably also would lean towards a call to the dot.
