I wouldn't think that corn residue would be charred. We have those spots on our fields as well where the beans had died. Always thought it was lightning strikes, other people around here have always said the same thing as well.
When trees around here get struck it will peel the bark off but the lightning won't char the wood on the tree.
Whats up with these beans?
