Subject: Soybean nodule color ?

nc IA
Took some tissue samples on Saturday in the corn and beans, Pulled a few bean plants (not dug/washed out nice or anything) roots came out with a large number of nodules attached, but upon cutting a few of them open, most were pale inside, not the pink I thought they should be. Thoughts? what does this mean possibly? 1st year beans, look great to me otherwise, was corn for the previous 3 years, and Graphex inoculate applied at planting. Beans are flowering at the lowest nodes.
