Subject: RE: models don't agree with each other

North Central Illinois
Yeah there are several different scenarios being thrown about depending on what model the forecaster is favoring. Tom Skilling in Chicago is calling for full blown hot dome for foreseeable future. There are many who swear he uses his forecasts to manipulate the CBOT. That accusation has been investigated by federal authorities several times and found to have no merit. He does however like to hype the weather and make it into a huge deal. I like the guy but with something like this he tends to get carried away. The guys at DTN weather have been pretty accurate all year. Their take yesterday was that the ridge would continue to push north and then sink back south which would bring continued periods of hot and dry to the cornbelt but also allow for some periodic breaks from the heat with chances of some thunderstorms at times. These guys pretty much call it as they see it and have been pretty accurate. They caution with this dome scenario that there is little concensus between several of the models so there is much uncertainty with the forecast.
