Slicker than a Yes album.
Bauer can only make certain sizes of bar to be coupled with Deere units and painted green. You can do certain other things, but it costs a bit more to put the parts together.
Biggest sticking point, deere makes a 60 foot bar, 24R30. You can't order a factory bar from Bauer in a 24R30 because deere wants to sell their bar. So, you buy units for a 24R22, a 66 foot bauer, unbolt the extensions, rebolt the markers on and presto! a 24R30 bauer bar ordered from the factory. Well, now JD is wise to this fact, made bauer weld the extensions on. Not as easy to convert, but you are now out the $2500 it takes to order the longer bar and then cut it down.

This is a VERY quick and dirty explanation, I'm betting someone out there has a bit more experience with this. I don't even know if you can buy a larger bar and build your own 80' or larger Bauer. I'd imagine they are kind of swamped with orders nowadays.
