SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ | JIM,One shot of rup is not enough. Most either go 2 shots of rup or spray a residual at planting and then come back before knee high with rup.
You need the residual down to keep weeds from coming later after the corn is taller. With all the rainy weather most are wishing they would have put a pre residual down. Corn cannot stand hardly any weeds and yields will suffer.
If that were my field it would get sprayed asap. Even a few weed escapes will cause problems for future control.
Products like sure start with atrazine and rup sprayed at first or second leaf stage are great products and you will be amazed how clean the field will be. That might be the only way to go one pass spray, even then a few escapes will come thru needing a shot of rup at knee high. it only takes 3 to 4$ to spray rup , that can easily be lost with only 1 1/2 bu lost yield. | |
