Wheatley, Arkansas | Today we went over the 100 gallon per hour mark on irrigation fuel, this doesn't include a full host of electric wells and pivots. We can make a crop in a drought but it sure eats into the profits in a hurry. 4 more weeks of corn watering at once per week, can only guess at the number of times the beans will need a drink, and the rice is taking it for the duration, probably 10 more weeks. Sure would like to beg, borrow or steal a 2-3'' rain about now. There are still several acres of beans to be planted around here, but it's too dry. Some are flushing and planting, some planting and flushing, and some just waiting. Those sitting and waiting may be the smartest by fall.
