I sprayed some late last year. 32 oz roundup, 2 oz callisto, .75# atrazine and it went through the canopy just fine. Hated doing it, but was the exact same situation as you, even balance down. I am set on 15" centers, not much difference.
For what it is worth, I am going to be doing the same thing on a few acres when it dries up.
