We are on the southern fringe of the drought been on going since 2004 the county north of us is some 30 in under normal precip since 05.
The further north you go the dryer it gets. To top it of the ground is lighter also.
Here I do better in a slight drought because of the heavy soils that don't drain well this spring was unheard of allot of corn went in in mid April we didn't get any moisture since early Feb. snow melt Then first of may 3-5 in wet snow (poor mans fertilizer) lol devastated the ginseng guys collapsing the tents and smothering the crop herd one farmer lost a Million dollars in crop sales ..
As of today here corn is v5-v6 stage and looks excellent we are clearly 4 weeks ahead of last year...Scott
