Doing it with one piece instead of two would help out with your jackscrews.
I would personally prefer a cable type null modem/gender changer. Then it could bend rather than stick out like your does.
We run into a similar situation when we need to hook up to certain Ag Leader products. We make a null modem/gender changer extension which covers three areas: Null modem reversal, Gender changer and added length.
In those cases only the GPS signals of 2,3 and 5 are involved. Possibly more wires are utilized in your setup.
