I see what you calculated to get the 42% more, but this just shows the increase amount in the diameter of the circle or hole. I think you need to look at the "Area" of the hole. I believe that under the same pressure, a 5/32 hole will give about the same flow as two 7/64 holes combined. Not really sure how to explain this. Think about a pizza size. The next size bigger is only a couple inches in diameter, but look at how much more surface area there is to the larger size. Relating this to a hole size. There will be a much larger opening due to a small change in the diameter, causing a large change in flow. To calculate the area of a circle, use the formula: A=(PI) (r) (r) or Area = (3.141592654)*(radius of circle)*(radius of circle). A drill bit is sized by its diameter. To find the radius, just divide the diameter by 2. Below is a table that I calculated based on this information.

-----------------Area ----------------- increase of area------------- increase as % of 7/64 bit
7/64 bit:---- .009395632
1/8 bit:------ .012271846----------- .002872283--------------------- 30.57%
9/64 bit:-----.015531555----------- .006135923--------------------- 65.31%
5/32 bit:---- .01917476------------- .0097779008-------------------104.08%

I suggest that you take one orfice, drill it out one size bigger, and collect a sample. Compare your samples obtained under constant variables and over the same distance. Calculate your % of change. If you want more, go one size bigger. I would do this before drilling all of them just to prove it to myself. Hope this helps.

Sorry, it is 1/8 or 8/64. I had typed 1/4 earlier.
