West Chazy, New York | When Lynn Hoffman was managing Penn State's Rock Springs research farm I heard him make a presentation on no-till versus conventional (No-till was still fairly new at the time). He said he started to make a list of all the reasons to use tillage (weed control, compaction, seed emergence, residue management, etc.) and then a list of all the reasons to use no-till. When he was done, the items on each list were pretty much the same. The point was, it isn't a good idea to be a slave to ideology. Look at your situation and pick what works best for you, but be willing to change if the circumstances change.
