Well the old joke was if it killed them they were pigweed, if it didn't they were waterhemp.
You don't have a lot of options, if you have a problem in general, in the future, use something like Sonalan, Treflan or Prowl preemerge.
It's also possible that Express tolerant sunflowers would work for you.
But for now, in this crop, no, that was your shot.
