Nth New South Wales Australia
A 15 speed is a very durable trans,we have two of them, both RTX and both on trucks specced out for road-train work.We operate them as 12 speeds(use bottom 5,middle 2,top 5) and they give us 60mph/100kph@1650rpm, so will go plenty fast to get a ticket if you like but have a few gears down low to get going.Main thing I can see here for you is as most over there like their trucks as light as possible the 15 will weigh a little more than a 10.
If I was to spec a new to me truck out today it would have nothing but an 18 speed, but the 15's have been fine to date.Weight for us is not as big an issue,we need a bit of weight to carry more fuel and heavier specs and still be able to have 110,000lb payloads.
Mike.
