IMO either a 8870 or a 8770 are the most reliable and fuel efficient 4 wheelers out there. They ride comparable to newer 4 wheelers, they are pretty basic tractors with very few electronics involved in them.

Drawbacks would be a smaller cab than current production tractors, a little less than optimal lighting, and perhaps their age.

Going from a 8450 to a 8X70 would be like going from a bicycle to a Cadillac.

Things to look at; axle bearings, air to air cooler, slack in gudgeon area as well as steering cylinders. Look at the motor mounts and the motor mount supports for cracks. Raise the hood and look at the air box on the front wall of the cab, the seals may be deteriorated and need to be caulked to get sufficient cooling in the cab.

The 12 sp manuals are OK, the 24 speeds are nice, the 12 speeds PS's are nice.
