Subject: something better than 2,4-db for seedling alfalfa/timothy ?

Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North

My spring planted alfalfa / timothy stand is ready for spraying, is there anything that works better than the 2,4-db I've always used? Alfalfa is 1-3 trifoliates. Lots of limitations because of the grass in the mix. I was searching about the net and came across a couple of herbicide sensitivity stdies done on young alfalfa, was surprised to find similar damage to alfalfa from Buctril M and Refine Extra (Harmony GT in the US, I think) than the only recommended chemical which is 2,4-db. Has anyone some real world experience with this? We use both Buctril and Refine on barley and wheat crops and it does a LOT better job on the problem weeds here than 2,4db.  Not really interested in frying off the alfalfa to get at a few weeds though.  Email in profile.
