I no till beans into corn stalks all the time with a 950.  Just shallow up gauge wheels and go.  You shouldn't need to increase down pressure unless your blades are very worn.  If you do increase, try tightening the springs before you start moving stuff.

The only other problem you may have is with the Martin trash whippers in corn stalks.  I often end up taking mine off, especially if the stalks are wet.  They tend to plug up but I've never really had any problems with emergence with removing them.  Seed trench will close just fine with the CIH stock closing discs.
