Subject: Planting Confectionary Sunflowers with Cyclo Planter????

Anamoose, ND
I started planting some confectionary sunflowers today with my CIH 900 planter and I am not sure I have it set right. I started out with a popcorn drum like we usually use on oil sunflowers. I tried different pressure settings and nothing seemed to work, I had lots of doubles and once I dropped the pressure down I had too many skips. I tried using the brush but it would knock all the seeds out of the pockets even with it adjusted to the lowest setting.

Next I tried my 36 hole corn drum. It seemed somewhat better. I have my pressure up around 9-10 oz with the brush raised. I have the brush adjusted down as far as I can. I am still getting a few doubles but I also have some empty pockets. I am shooting for around 20k seeds per acre, the monitor is showing that I am getting anywhere from 19 to 21k/acre. I am getting the right amount of acres per bag so do I just live with a few skips and doubles? Should I be using a different drum?
