I have not encountered this problem or had complaints from customers (employer is a BH dealer). That said, given the glowing reports you have posred in the past about this machine and your neighbor's and my customer's experiences, I can only wonder if there is a blade tip speed issue at work here in some fashion. Cut grass really should not spend any time within the radius of the ring, I would think.
